The cruise went for approximately two (2) hours across Milford Sound (piopiotahi) which is a fiord on the south-west of New Zealand’s South Island. The sound is an incredible place which runs some 15mks inland from the Tasman Sea, is surrounded by sheer rock faces which are said to rise 1200 metres or more on each side (and also underwater), and has an incredible mean average rainfall of around 6,412mm making it one of the wettest inhabited places in New Zealand, and one of the wettest in the world.

I visited the Melbourne Zoo in August, and found so many creatures big and small interesting. The African wild dog is interesting looking, and sorry but I have to say it (it has a face only a mother could love). None the less I would rather not become dinner…
The king of the jungle put on a great show at the Melbourne Zoo, The Lion. It commands respect, and I was far happier being on my side of the protective glass than on the ‘your my dinner’ side of the glass. I remember standing there impressed with this creature, the fear that they strike…
The Meerkats are a family favorite at the Werribee Zoo, located right need the cafe (aptly named Meerkat Cafe).
