Panthera uncia Syn. Uncia uncia or The Snow leopard

The snow leopard at the Melbourne Zoo was not at all interested in us during our visit. It did make me chuckle as I swear I have seen my cats make exactly the same face! I visited the Melbourne Zoo in August, and found so many creatures big and small interesting. The African wild dog is interesting looking, and sorry but I have to say it (it has a face only a mother could love). None the less I would rather not become dinner…

P. leo (Panthera) or The Lion

The king of the jungle put on a great show at the Melbourne Zoo, The Lion. It commands respect, and I was far happier being on my side of the protective glass than on the ‘your my dinner’ side of the glass. I remember standing there impressed with this creature, the fear that they strike into others is evident in a heartbeat. This one looked happy watching it’s land and keeping an eye out for intruders.
