Pretty Boy – Australian King Parrot
Near where I live is a fairly tame Australian King Parrot we affectionately call “Pretty Boy” due to the brilliant colours. Today he stopped in for a bit of seed so I could not help but capture some photos. The image was captured with Sony A7R 4, Tamron 28-75mm @75mm, 1/1250, f/2.8, ISO640 and was edited in Lightroom and Aurora HDR. To give some perspective, I thought I may as well include an image below which was right out […]
In March 2022, I attended a workshop on animal macro photography which was run by Narre Warren Fine Art Printing, and the Animals were brought along by Aussie Wildlife Displays. This was one of the first workshops of this style I had attended and was well worth it. There were a number of different animals but this photo was of the Freshwater Crocodile (Crocodylus johnsoni). There are an estimated 100,000 individual crocodiles in the wild across the world. Captured on […]
I visited Pyramid Rock at Phillip Island in the hopes of capturing an Aurora following a recent solar flare. Sadly it did not eventuate so instead I spent the night having a play around with a large panorama. This image is two combined panorama’s of about 15 and 21 images which were taken with a Sony A7R 4, Tamron 28-75mm f/2.8 (@ 28mm), 15 seconds, f/2.8 & ISO 1600. Image was stitched using Autopano Giga, and was edited in Lightroom […]
Portrait of a Crocodile at the Melbourne Zoo. My species Identification is terrible so if you know what species this is let me know, I am torn between adult Phillipines Crocodile or Freshwater Crocodile (although I suspect its too big for that). The image was Captured on 15/03/2022 with a Sony ILCE-7RM4 and 150mm F2.8 G @ 150 mm, 1/250 sec at ƒ / 3.2, ISO 800 and was edited in Lightroom CC. Due to the shallow depth of field a […]
Malu the Sumatran orangutan (Pongo abelii) from the Melbourne Zoo (captive). I decided to edit this photo a bit different in black and white using the DxO’s Nik Collection 4 and specifically the Silver Efex Plugin. An interesting fact about the Orangutan is that they can measure up to 1.5m tall and can weigh up to 100kg.Captured on 15/03/2022 2:44:38 PM with a Sony ILCE-7RM4 and 150-600mm F5-6.3 DG DN OS | Sports 021 @ 308 mm, 1/125 sec at […]
