As a volunteer one of the most important things we do is training, and often this tends to be ‘pretending' that something is on fire. Over time the training has improved and we now have access to what is known as ‘hot fire props' which are basically specially designed shipping containers which have been set up to be able to be set on fire in certain places under controlled conditions. This gives us a great chance to experience real training and all of the urgency that comes with it rather than just pretending something is on fire.

It was a great night with valuable experience gained.
