ON1, the creators of Photo RAW 2021 and a range of other software packages have announced the upcoming release of ON1 NoNoise AI which is due to be released in June 2021.

I have not yet had the chance to test this software but will do so in the near future and should be able to put a YouTube video up of my experiences. Preliminary images provided by ON1 (below) appear to show a good balance between removing noise and retaining detail (although as mentioned I have not yet had the chance to review this myself).

In information provided by ON1, there are a range of features to this software which include:

• AI based noise reduction which leverages machine learning to build an AI network which removes luminance and color noise whilst maintaining details.
• Fast and easy to use controls with quick preview of results, and fewer controls to adjust without the limitation of sacrificing sharpness to reduce image noise.
• AI based demosaicing which for raw photos, combines the denoise process with the demosaicing process to achieve better noise reduction, as well as help increase detail and sharpness.
• Support for RAW photos from over 700 cameras as well as common file types (DNG, JPG, TIFF, PNG) and also provides the ability to create DNG raw files with complete tonal and color range for use in most editors
• Combine and Mask, allowing the ability to combine multiple renditions of a photo with multiple photos as layers. This allows you to use the powerful built in masking tools to blend and combine photos with different levels of noise reduction and sharpening
• Auto mode analyses the photo and determines the correct amount of noise reduction, but also can apply user preferences to help maintain a specific style (e.g. maintain some grain in photos)
• Progressive Sharpening, uses an exclusive ON1 algorithm to enhance sharpness and details based on the size of the detail in the photo, whilst avoiding other artifacts and halos that other sharpening techniques can create
• Presets allowing you to create and save your own style as well as having some presets to help you get started
• Batch processing allowing you to batch process an entire folder of photos. For each photo the correct amount of noise reduction and sharpening can be added, but you can also open a series of photos and adjust each photo to your own desired settings, or copy and paste settings from one photo to another
• Plugin support, ON1 NoNoise AI works as a plugin for Adobe Photoshop, Lightroom Classic, Capture One, Affinity Photo, Corel Paint Shop Pro, or Apple Photos.

ON1 NoNoise AI aims to give better results than any other noise reduction application on the market today.
