Science is an ever-changing area, and there are constantly new discoveries which may alter current knowledge in a specific area. As a result, it becomes more and more important to keep up to date with what is happening in the scientific arena. Of course, it is not possible or practical to stay in touch with everything that is happening, so once you have found your area of interest then it is worth having a look at some of the interesting publications within that area.
One option for staying up to date is to follow many of the journals that exist, from Nature onwards. The second option (on which this post focuses) is to subscribe to one of the many great podcasts that are provided free and highlight some of the more interesting discoveries of late.
Some of my favorite podcasts, that I think are worth subscribing are listed below;
- This week in Science
- Star Talk
- The Infinite Monkey Cage
- Sixty Second Science
- The Guardian Science Weekly
The above is by no means a complete list, but it does provide a starting point. Second, platforms like Twitter are also a great place to find and keep up to date with scientists. Just expect the posts to be snippets at 140 characters…
