Topaz Sharpen is an AI powered tool that offers a range of sharpening options to improve your images. This is a program I have used in a number of my images to improve the sharpness where I may have picked the wrong shutter speed (which lead to motion blur) or if I missed focus slightly.
Of course, it does go without saying, but sometimes photos are such that they cannot be saved, but I do find generally using Sharpen AI has saved a fair few different images of mine.
Sharpen AI offers a number of different sharpening modes which include:
- Sharpen – general purpose sharpening
- Stabilize – fix shake reduction
- Focus – fix missed focus where there is up to 10 pixels of focus blur
One my my favorite features though is in Topaz Sharpen AI 2.2.0 onwards which is a preview mode which shows the effect of each mode on a preview of your image. Examples of this new feature are shown below:

In the above examples the software gives great examples of how each mode would change your pictures, for me this is a great feature as sometimes when I am trying to improve the sharpness of an image it can be a close choice between focus or Stabilize, so with this mode I can see which mode I think is going to improve my image the most, and once I have found the right mode I can pick that and get the software to adjust the image.
