Due to the SARS-COV-2 / COVID-19 pandemic, I, like many others have been working from home. This has meant I have had multiple computers I commonly use. I have my work laptop as well as my home desktop, and it feels like I spend half of my life in video conferences (Microsoft Teams, Zoom).

Because I am becoming a stickler for cable management, and I wanted to avoid having to constantly unplug and plug in cables I wanted to come up with a way of being able to switch peripherals between my work laptop and my desktop.

I have another post about using the UGREEN HDMI KVM to manage my keyboard, Mouse and display but in this case, I needed a USB3 switch which would allow me to switch my Blue Yeti and Logitech Brio between the computers, but independent of the KVM, so I may want to have my keyboard, Mouse and display on the laptop, but have my Blue Yeti and Webcam on the desktop.

In order to achieve this, I used the UGREEN USB3 Switch. This is a USB switch which is powered by a Micro USB cable, and has two USB3 cables which run into each computer (they have the USB A connection on the end).

In addition to the two USB cables that run to the computers, there are four (4) usb ports on the switch which you can connect your devices into. In my case I have the Blue Yeti and the Logitech Brio connected into the USB3 switch which then runs to my work laptop and my desktop computer, and with the press of one button I cane asilh switch the devices between Computers without having to unplug cables.

So far I have run this setup for a few weeks, and have been very happy with the setup using the UGREEN USB3 switch. I also use the UGREEN HDMI KVM to switch displays and inputs.

Hope this has been helpful and gives some ideas of how you can switch devices between Computers easily. Stay tuned and I will also post about how you can use software to pass through we cams and Audio from one computer to another.
